Your Role

As an Athlete Manager within GRANDSLAM, you will guide our European athletes and coaches in their sporting careers. You will help them make the right career choices, support them in their personal development and create commercial opportunities. You become a confidant and a business partner for the athletes. You will be the one who spots market developments and opportunities before they become visible on

social media.

What will you do?

Building the careers of athletes and coaches: Daily consulting our athletes and coaches on the right career choices, their development, contract negotiations and transfers within the international market. Together with our athletes and coaches, you will build their career, brand and network.
Spotting market trends: You're ahead of everyone, every day! What is just a rumour today, you knew already yesterday. By spotting trends, opportunities and needs before the rest, you add value for our athletes.
Discovery and exploitation of commercial opportunities: Identify and realise sponsorship deals, media opportunities and other commercial collaborations.
Relationship management: Building and maintaining relationships with clubs, sponsors, sports associations and other stakeholders. You are the face of our athletes and coaches in the outside world.
Coaching & support: supporting athletes and coaches mentally, medically, legally and financially in cooperation with our specialised partners.
Network development: Actively expanding our network within the sports and commercial sector.
Travel & flexibility: The world of topsport has no set working hours. You shift gears effortlessly. Travelling is part of the job, at unexpected times. You are regularly on the road. Not for city trips, but to support our athletes and coaches where necessary.

Who Are You?

You have a nose for opportunities and a heart for topsport. In the dynamic world of handball, you keep a cool head even when it gets unexpectedly busy and our athletes need you. Your curiosity takes you to places others do not, and you always know what is going on..... just that little bit earlier.

Curiosity and entrepreneurship: You have a natural urge to figure things out, see opportunities and act on them immediately. You see opportunities where others miss them.
Market knowledge or the drive to build it: You are up to speed faster than social media. You know what's going on in the world of sports, transfers and sponsors before we can read about it in the media.
Networking skills: You connect people, maintain relationships and turn this into opportunities for athletes and coaches. You are a natural connector with strong powers of persuasion.
Flexibility and adaptability: You work in a top-level sports environment where 9-to-5 does not exist. You understand the dynamics and challenges of our athletes and coaches. You adapt effortlessly to changing situations and are willing to travel when necessary. You see travelling not as a city trip, but as an opportunity to make an impact.
Perseverance: Not everything succeeds at once. You keep going until you achieve success.
Experience: Experience or training in sports management, business administration or commercial management is going to help you.
Communication: You can interact well with our stakeholders. You have excellent negotiation skills and commercial acumen. Good social and communication skills; you are a real connector.
Affinity with topsport: You understand what it takes to perform at the highest level. Our athletes and coaches are demanding, and that is exactly your playing field.
Languages: Fluent in English writing and speaking. Knowledge of other European languages, like French, German or any Scandinavian would be a big plus, here you are scoring bonus points.

Per year, you have 24 days off....officially. But if you need more, because if you have something special, we will arrange it together.
Because we want you to be up-to-date and reachable 24/7, we will give you a laptop and phone.
If you are attending an international event for GRANDSLAM, we will buy your flight and hotel.
We work internationally and are therefore mainly remote-oriented. But we also have a small and cosy Clubhouse in Zwolle, which is completely geared to working together.
